What is A Tom?

Like the indispensable nature of an atom, an “A Tom”  woman is an energetic space creator for new waves of representation in lifestyle narratives and authentic artistic expressions of what matters in the diversity of queer womanhood.  With boldness and with truthful genuinity, an A Tom also pioneers the mold-breaking ideologies of what it means to be a tomboy in modern society. And reflective of an atom, an “A Tom” is a composition of unseen, and immeasurably beautiful creative elements - dynamic, roaring, magnetic, free, visionary and ignited with an active participation in the forward movement of  fresh and diverse portrayals and embodiments of the tomboy queer culture.

Tomboy by definition.

Tomboy a “wild, romping girl, [a] girl who acts like a spirited boy.

By prehistoric definition, a tomboy is a girl who exhibits characteristics or behaviors considered typical of a boy. Common characteristics include wearing masculine clothing and engaging in games and activities that are physical in nature and are considered in many cultures to be unfeminine or the domain of boys.

Author Michelle Ann Abate stated that, in nineteenth-century American culture, the usage of the word tomboy came to refer to a specific code of conduct that permitted young girls to exercise, wear "sensible clothing", and to eat a "wholesome diet". Because of the emphasis on a healthier lifestyle, tomboyism quickly grew in popularity during this time period as an alternative to the dominant feminine code of conduct that had limited women's physical movement.

“Many girls, of course, exhibit both girly and tomboy traits, and the infinite shades in between. Nevertheless, the tomboy is an overlooked part of how American society understands gender, race, class, and sexuality. And as attitudes toward all those categories change and evolve, the relevance and appropriateness of the tomboy label is uncertain.”

The chemistry.

Scientifically speaking, this exemplary assortment of atoms, join together and create a chemical reaction, which is the A Tom movement. All matter is made of atoms. No matter how small the atom, its energy is needed to bring something to life. Atoms are the basic building blocks of ordinary matter. The positively charged core of every atom is the nucleus, which is the central and most important part of an object, movement, or group, forming the basis for its activity and growth. The positively charged Atoms can join together to form molecules, which in turn form most of the objects around you. A molecule exists when two or more atoms join together by forming chemical bonds. ... When atoms of at least two different elements come together to form chemical bonds, these molecules can be called compounds.

We understand that together we are stronger and together we can fight for what matters.
